PERSISTANT anti-social behaviour has landed a Barry man with an eviction notice

Newydd Housing Association and South Wales Police jointly worked with residents to remove Gavin Ralphs, 46, from his property and successfully obtained an Eviction Order at Cardiff County Court.

At Cwrt Melin y Rhos flats on Hunter Street, Barry Ralphs had subjected his neighbours and other residents to serious and persistent anti-social behaviour, causing harassment, alarm and distress in the local community.

Hayley Nunns, Anti-Social Behaviour Officer at Newydd said: “We would like to thank the tenants of Cwrt Melin y Rhos and praise them for their courage in standing up to the perpetrator of anti-social behaviour.

"By contacting the Police during every incident and recording each event, we were able to take Mr Ralphs to Court.

"Tenants can often feel helpless when faced with anti-social behaviour however, there are a number of actions that can be taken including a legal remedy.

"We are determined to make our neighbourhoods safer and we will provide support to any of our tenants who come forward to report this kind of behaviour."

PCSO Dominic Bury said: “It is vital that residents feel that they can come to us if they have a problem.

"Tenants have played a vital part in standing up to anti-social behaviour. Without reporting incidents we will not be able to gather evidence to make neighbourhoods safer places to live.”

Any Newydd tenant wishing to report incidents of anti-social behaviour can do so by calling them on 0303 040 1998 or by reporting it to the Police on 999 or 101.
