A NEW logo for the children’s safeguarding service, designed by a pupil from Palmerston Primary School has been unveiled by the Vale of Glamorgan Council.

The logo, designed by eight-year-old Chloe Lerway, was selected from more than 100 entries to the design competition which was launched to all Year 3 pupils in primary schools across the Vale in May.

The pupils were given a short and simple brief to design a new logo for the safeguarding service, using only four colours, thinking about what keeps them safe.

Director of Learning and Skills Jennifer Hill, who presented Chloe with a £20 book voucher, said: “It was encouraging to see so many entries to this competition and that children have an understanding of safeguarding.

"We chose Chloe’s design because it was cheerful and welcoming. I was pleased to be invited to the school’s assembly to present Chloe with a prize for her work.”

The new logo will be used on all publications produced by the safeguarding team, as well as on their web pages. It is hoped that children will recognise the logo and gain an understanding of the importance of safeguarding.

Along with multi-agency partners, the safeguarding service is responsible for promoting children’s welfare and helping to protect them from all forms of abuse and neglect.
