NEW laws to prevent anti-social behaviour at Rhoose Point are being considered by the Vale of Glamorgan council.

The proposed byelaws - local laws which allow councils and the police to fine people who breach them - would ban swimming, fishing and camping at Rhoose Point.

The laws would be enforced when people persist with antisocial behaviour and are not willing to stop at the request of the council or police.

In January 2013 a consultation was launched and Rhoose residents and organisations were asked for their opinions on the proposal to introduce these byelaws at Rhoose Point to tackle complaints of antisocial behaviour in the area.

Due to a change in legislation, the Council is now required to undertake another consultation.

Of those that responded to the original 2013 consultation, more than 60 per cent of respondents said they had experienced some form of anti-social behaviour in the area in the past 12 months, with over 80 per cent agreeing that the council should introduce byelaws to help tackle antisocial behaviour.

Residents of Rhoose Point will receive a consultation pack containing relevant information and a consultation response form to fill in and return.

Any other Vale residents wishing to have their say can send written responses to FREEPOST RTGU- JGBH- YYJZ, Rhoose Point Byelaws Consultation, Corporate and Customer Services, Vale of Glamorgan Council, Barry, CF63 4RU, or email consultation@valeofglamorgan.gov.uk.
