KNAP residents are hoping nuisance behaviour will be consigned to the past after years of trying to get a barrier installed resulted in victory.

The Vale Council is set to install a barrier at the Knap car park after being lobbied by its neighbours and Baruc councillors Steffan Wiliam, and Nic and Shirley Hodges.

Birch Grove resident, Russell Bagnall said: “In recent months we’ve been woken up in the early hours of the morning by cars performing doughnuts on the gravel in the car park.

“The noise at night was bad enough, but the mess that was occasionally left for us the morning afterwards was awful and hazardous for animals and children.”

“People’s gardens and buildings were also broken into in the past. The barrier will leave us all feeling a lot safer and can’t come soon enough. We’re really grateful to Steffan and the Plaid team for finally securing this.”

Vale and town councillor, Steffan Wiliam said: “This will serve to protect residents of Birch Grove and the Lakeside businesses at night.

“Until now, the lack of a barrier and any CCTV meant that people were able to camp overnight, make lots of noise and fly tip without hindrance. Local residents and businesses were left feeling very vulnerable – a fact that was made very clear at the last annual general meeting of the Knap Action Group. ”
