A LITTLE girl with a life limiting illness has been named the number one Cutie Pie in Barry.
Four-year-old Evie O'Keefe won the competition, run by Peter's Food Service through the Barry & District News, and is set to be treated to £100 worth of new clothes by doting mum Marie.
Evie suffers from mitochondrial cytopathy, a life limiting illness that means that she has regular seizures and is also unable to walk.
Speaking about the win, Marie, 34, of Clos Llawhaden, Barry said: “It means the absolute world to us to win.
"For Evie to win and for the judges to look past the tube in her nose means so much to us as a family especially after everything she has been through.
“Evie is a cutie pie because, despite her illness, she is always smiling and her personality literally lights up a room."
Evie, who has three brothers and a sister, beat stiff competition to win the big prize, which includes a £100 Tesco vouchers and a selection of Peter’s goodies.
Evie was put forward for the prize by her mum, who wanted to spoil her little girl to a new wardrobe.
Marie said: "We plan to use the voucher to buy a few pretty dresses for Evie to wear and give something to her as a treat for the happiness she has brought into our lives.”
Claire Conway, Marketing Manager from Peter’s said: “We are very pleased to give this prize to such a special little girl and her lovely family.
"Evie’s smile really caught the attention of our judges. She really is a true cutie pie."
