VOLUNTEERS are needed to help collect money for charity at Tesco stores in Barry.

The British Heart Foundation (BHF) Cymru and Diabetes UK Cymru are appealing for volunteers in Barry to raise money to help change the nation’s health for the better as a part of February’s Heart Month.

The collections will take place on February 13 and 14 and will mark the beginning of a new partnership between Tesco, Diabetes UK and the BHF.

Collections will take place at Tesco’s 48 stores across Wales. The money raised will help kickstart the campaign which aims to encourage millions of people to reduce their risk of cardiovascular disease and Type 2 diabetes by leading a healthier lifestyle. Both conditions are largely preventable, by making healthy lifestyle choices.

Jenna Hall, Programme Director of the National Charity Partnership, said: “Cardiovascular disease and Type 2 diabetes are both serious conditions that can shorten lives.

"But it doesn’t have to be this way. Through this partnership, we aim to help millions of people reduce their risk of developing Type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease. And by joining us in The Vale you can play a part in helping people live longer, healthier lives.”
