REGIONAL AM, Andrew RT Davies, visited the Barry at War Museum and pledged to support the ongoing campaign to secure a suitable permanent site in the area.
The museum is currently housed in Barry Railway Stations and aims to preserve, promote and research the wartime history of Barry and the surrounding area.
Mr Davies paid tribute to the work of the group established to document such rich local history.
He said: “I thoroughly enjoyed the visit and learned a lot about Barry’s wartime history. The artefacts they hold paint a vivid picture and their efforts to learn more about this fascinating subject from locals who lived and breathed it should be applauded.
“I hope that the Vale council will work with the museum’s management to find a suitable permanent venue within the local area and I’m sure that local residents and visitors would agree that this is a hugely worthwhile venture.
“Barry has a rich history and the volunteers do amazing work in spite of the modest accommodation in which they are currently located. I look forward to working with them in securing the museum’s long term future.”
