SPORTING superstars descended on a Barry primary school to help pupils and staff give fundraising an added bounce.

Barry boxing heroes, brothers Lee and Andrew Selby, Wales International and Bristol City academy footballers Loren (CORR) Dykes and Sophie Ingle, Cardiff Devils ice hockey players Josh Batch and Trevor Hendrikx (CORR), Cardiff City FC, Vale resort representative Matthew Coombes, parent and military man, John Voss and Barry-based FitM8 trainers, Carlmichael and Michelle were among those visiting All Saints primary C/W school’s efforts a lift.

The school held a sponsored bounce day – with parents invited to take a look – to help acquire e-security equipment and tablets for school use.

Lee accepted honorary membership of the school’s eCadet group – joining the ranks of former Wales rugby international captain Ieuan Evans and First Minister, Carwyn Jones.

Lee said: “There’s a big rise in obesity and it’s great for them to keep active. Sport turned my life around. It’s not just the training – it’s the lessons it teaches. If you work hard you can achieve your ambitions.”

Mum Victoria Garvey, 35, said she wanted to show support as All Saints was a great school with a great philosophy.

She said: “Sport is a huge part of our lives. It’s nice in terms of teamwork as well as competition.”

Kyle Everitt, 27, said it was good to see everyone having a good time while mum Jessica Rees, 35, added: “It’s something they can all participate in. It’s great for their health and it engages them.”
