POUNDSTRETCHER Stores across Wales, including Barry, have for the second year donated money raised for the sale of plastic bags to Blood Bikes Wales.
Blood Bike Wales was formed in February 2011 and currently provides services to three NHS trusts across South Wales.
Volunteer co-ordinators and riders using BBW motorcycles complete various shifts over the weekend and bank holidays delivering test samples, platelets, notes, patient records and more.
This saves health boards considerable amounts of money which would otherwise be spent on taxis to deliver these items.
They also run a ‘Mid-Week’ service of delivering frozen breast milk to Neonatal Baby Units across South Wales.
