A FLY-ON-THE-WALL documentary following life at Cardiff Airport will arrive on ITV Cymru Wales on Wednesday, October 1.

The six-part series, tracking Cardiff Airport throughout 2014, gives viewers a behind the scenes insight into the changes undertaken, the people that make the airport operate and the airlines that connect Wales to the world.

Cameras were given access to all areas of the business as staff work hard to ensure the airport remains open for ‘business as usual’ during the transformation of the terminal building and car parks.

Staff training programmes and a number of major events are also featured.

Editor English language programmes at ITV Cymru Wales, Jonathan Hill, said: "This has been an extraordinary nine-month project as ITV cameras followed life at Cardiff Airport in perhaps the most crucial year in its history.

"The stakes couldn't be higher as a new management team set out to bring back the good times. We've received unprecedented co-operation from Cardiff Airport which has made for a fascinating series."

Producer, Brett Allen said: “From the pilots and crew to the check-in staff and the baggage handlers, from the directors, managers and technicians, the series provides a unique glimpse into life and work at one of Wales' key businesses.

“Narrator Eddie Butler’s distinctively wry style brings a combination of humour and observation that combines to make each episode compelling viewing."

Cardiff Airport managing director, Debra Barber, added: “2014 has been an exciting yet challenging year for Cardiff Airport; we have listened and responded to what our customers want from their Airport by looking at the whole customer experience and working with airlines to deliver more destinations.

“The series has given us the opportunity to take everyone on the journey with us. By filming the airport team throughout the year, viewers can see the full array of work undertaken on route development, the terminal, customer service and marketing. No stone has been left unturned as we work to give Wales an airport to be proud of once again.”

The programme will be aired on ITV Cymru Wales at 10.40pm.
