A SHOW of support for a proposal to rebuild one of Barry’s most treasured visitor attractions took place on its former site on Sunday.

Rebuild The Knap Lido campaigners gathered at the former site in their latest effort to bring back the outdoor swimming pool facility.

Vale MP Alun Cairns joined the supporters at the Knap and almost 7,900 people have now expressed their backing on the group’s Facebook page.

Rebuild The Knap Lido campaigners Barrie Evans and Dean Snooks said: “We would like to thank the supporters who travelled from as far as Bridgend and Swansea.”

The campaigners are now planning to march from the Lido site to the Civic offices from 4.30pm on Wednesday, September 24 – arriving at the Civic Offices, Holton Road, Barry, for the full Vale Council meeting at 6pm.

They added: “If you can’t make it or feel it’s too far to walk then please join on route or meet us at the Civic Offices where we intend to present the petition to the head of planning. Make banners, carry your blow-up dolphins but please support this cause which is for the benefit of all our children and grandchildren.

“It’s up to you to get behind this campaign. We will do everything in our power to have our beloved Lido rebuilt, but we need all of you behind us, not just online but in person.”
