THE Barry Memo could get a vital boost after the Chancellor of the Exchequer's theatre tax relief comes into effect this week.
The Wales Office has welcomed the boost for Welsh theatres.
The theatre tax relief is expected to benefit around 250 production companies a year helping support plays, musicals, opera, ballet, dance and circus productions.
Baroness Jenny Randerson said: “Any initiative which can help us support and expand our excellent arts scene is warmly welcomed in Wales. We are a creative nation with a magnificent history of performing, not least through our world-renowned Eisteddfod tradition, one of the oldest performance festivals in Europe.
“We want Wales’s theatres and performers to receive the exposure and audiences they deserve. This tax relief will be a great boost for Welsh theatres and production companies by making it that much easier for them to stage performances and tour.”
