POLICE are hoping criminals will be caught napping following an invitation for cyclists to attend a security-marking event at The Knap.
Bike owners are urged to join members of Barry’s neighbourhood policing team between 10am and 2pm on Thursday, August, 28.
Officers will man the mobile information unit TREV with neighbourhood police officers and PCSOs on hand to mark your bikes and other property and to give tips on how to stop your bike from being stolen.
Bike owners will have the opportunity to register on the immobilise website which gives them a better chance of having their property returned if it is ever lost or stolen.
Scooters, mobile phones, tablets and laptops can also be added to the national database.
Neighbourhood beat manager, PC Nicola Owen said: “We want to make it as difficult as possible for bike thieves and owners can help protect themselves by not only coming along to see us but also by investing in a D lock.”
