THE Methodist churches have been ensuring youngsters stay gainfully occupied during their school summer break.

Week one, at St John Methodist Church, Barry Island saw up to 35 children attend daily across three days.

Week 2 moved to The Gathering Place Church & Community Centre, in St Athan, where up to 26 children popped in each day.

In week 3, a mini Holiday club was held at Crossway Methodist Church near Barry town centre. Up to 16 children attended. Each of the three churches concluded the Holiday Club with End of Holiday Club Awards & Celebration Services. These services saw all ages come together for worship.

Reverend Peter Taylor, of Crossway Methodist Church, Crossway Street, Barry, said: “Razzamatazz Robots was this year’s theme for The Methodist Churches Holiday Clubs across the Vale Circuit. Through fun, games, craft, Bible memory verses, prayers, words and songs, the ministers and local leaders and helpers sought to share the Good News of Jesus Christ to primary age children. As the week progressed the children learnt that we are not robots and are made in God’s image.”

He added: “During the summer, one Sunday afternoon we also had a Methodist Summer Praise on the beach at Barry Island in glorious weather. Up to 30 local Methodist members from a number of local congregations came along as well as well as a number of local day trippers who joined in the songs.”

The Methodist Church in the Vale of Glamorgan also looks forward to the start of September to welcoming the new Superintendents, Rev’s Carole & Phil Challis who will join with us in mission and ministry to the communities and congregations we serve.
