BARRY Comprehensive School saw an outstanding 98 per cent pass rate in their A-level results this year.

Headteacher Gerard McNamara said he was delighted with the results.

The school's top achiever was Jahn Hartland with three A*'s and one A. Jahn will study medicine after taking a gap year.

Other outstanding results were James Lofthouse who had four A's and one B and will be studying Mechanical Engineering at Cardiff University.

Joel Porter achieved a distinction and two A's and will also be studying Mechanical Engineering at Cardiff University.

Thomas Stoneman got two A*s and a B and will be studying Neuroscience at Cardiff University.

Daniel Woolford achieved an A* an A and a B and will be studying English at the University of Exeter.

Matthew Bohun got an A* an A and a C and will study Film and Television Production at the University of York.

Christopher Nash gained two A's and two C's and will be studying Mechanical Engineering at Loughborough University.

Headteacher Gerard McNamara said: "Teachers and governors are delighted with the A-level results.

"The dedication and hard work of the students has been rewarded with nearly all students achieving their university entry requirements.

"Students have gained access to a variety of top universities across Britain.

"The school achieved a 98 per cent A-level pass rate.
