WITH everything from bee keeping to fairground rides, from giant vegetables to a craft fair, food courts and much, much more - it's no wonder the Vale Agricultural Show once again saw thousands of visitors descend on Fonmon Castle, Barry.

This year the show was bigger than ever with more than 250 stands, new competitions and entertainment for all the family.

More than 20,000 people visited the show on the outskirts of Barry.

One visitor was Welsh Conservative leader Andrew RT Davies who described the event as "first class".

"This is a unique opportunity to do something like this because there so many organisations and everyone together on one site," he said.

"It brings town and country together to celebrate what is best about the Vale of Glamorgan and it's great to see everyone looking so optimistic.

General Secretary, Nicola Gibson, said: "It's bigger show than it's ever been before and everything has gone swimmingly

"We have 350 horticultural entries, we've got some fantastic entries in the sheep classes.

"The ground is looking really good considering the weather and the sun is even shining now."

Among the highlights of the show were the vegetable competition, the new poultry and sheep classes being judged, the indoor craft market, the spectacular grand parade of all the prize winning animals and the brand new Vale Farmer's Market Food Court.
