VOLUNTEER Crew at the Barry Dock RNLI lifeboat were summoned to a fishing boat rescue, following a training exercise, on Monday August 4.

The call out came after a four hour assessment exercise when crew and future coxswains all passed their emergency skills and knowledge assessment.

Crew were called back to back to the station for the lifeboat to be launched at 10.49pm to tow a 23ft fishing vessel to safety after electrical failure west of the station.

The lifeboat was busy earlier in the week with a call out to kayakers in Sully Bay.

The young kayakers had managed to get ashore without assistance so the lifeboat stood down.

Barry Dock RNLI is a charity and relies on public donations to save lives.
