IT was a case of yee ha in Victoria park when the Vale MP and AM strode in to experience a church’s fun day.

Vale MP Alun Cairns and Jane Hutt visited the Cadoxton Family Fun Day, in Barry, to take part in the event planned by Mount Pleasant Baptist Church.

Guests travelled from Texas to share fellowship.

Vale MP, Alun Cairns, who opened the event, said: “It was great to be invited to such a fun and entertaining day, which was made even better by the warming atmosphere created by the church and their local community. It was also fantastic to share fellowship with members from Texas, whose church is twinned with Mount Pleasant Baptist Church.

"The Texas themed barbecue really added something special to the day. It is great to see links being made between Barry and our friends across the Atlantic.”

Vale AM, Jane Hutt joined the face painting team where a queue was forming for the artistic face painters to show their talents including a face painter from Texas.

Volunteers from the Vale Foodbank volunteers also enjoyed the day as they prepared for their free holiday breakfasts offered on Mondays and Fridays at the Coastlands Family Church, at the Colcot.

Jane Hutt said: “I am always thrilled to come to events like these which really show the depth of community spirit in places in the Vale like Barry. It was a great day out for families of all ages and I hope everyone enjoyed it as much as the face painting team.”
