LAST weekend Barry Sea Cadets hosted the South Wales District Sailing Regatta for Sea Cadets.
With windsurfing, as well as four sailing classes this was a large event and good winds made for some exciting sailing on Barry Docks.
Sub Lt (SCC) W D Elliott RNR said: “This was a successful event with six out of the seven Sea Cadet Units in South Wales taking part. Everyone had a great day and a lot of fun.”
Cadet Jake Richardson, from the Barry Unit, won the Topper Class and will be going to HMS Excellent in Portsmouth at the end of the month to represent South Wales in the area competition. He said: “It’s fantastic to win and I’m really looking forward to going on to the next stage of the competition. I’m glad I came to Cadets and learnt to sail.”
