THE Heritage Coast Campsite at Monknash recently opened its new fully-accessible wet room, complete with shower, wash basin, and toilet.
Regular visitor Tom Jones from Barry was invited to open the facility.
Tom had an accident two months after his wedding in his early 20s and since then he has needed to use a wheelchair with the occasional use of crutches.
Tom, who was joined for the occasion by his wife and family, said: “I’m really impressed. These facilities will make such a difference and will enable disabled people to access the site and enjoy camping.”
Run by owners Philippa and Glyn George: "Heritage Coast Campsite first opened on a 28 day trial in 2012 and is now a permanent camp site which has been awarded four stars by Visit Wales.
Councillor Lis Burnett, Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Innovation, Planning and Transportation said: “Glyn and Philippa are to be commended on this wonderful addition to their site.
"It will enable families such as Tom’s to fully enjoy their leisure time together.”
