WALKING 20 miles across three mountain summits in 10 hours, a team from Aberthaw Power Station raised £430 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
The team of four completed the infamous Three Peaks challenge reaching the peaks of the Blorenge, Sugar Loaf and Skirrid Ysgyryd Fawr in Monmouthshire in one day.
Team leader Amy Sherborne said: "We raised £430 for Macmillan Cancer support and received a lovely gold certificate. This certainly makes up for the sore legs, blisters and bruised toes.
"We would like to give a huge thanks to the organisers and volunteers, many of which spent a long day on the peaks, the Cardiff Outdoor Group and Longtown Mountain Rescue Team.”
The challenge is part of npower’s "10 for 10" campaign, which involves staff completing 10 challenges throughout 2014 to mark the 10th anniversary of the company’s partnership with Macmillan and raise £150,000 for the charity.
Throughout "10 for 10", npower pledge to match every pound raised, doubling the Aberthaw team's total to more than £860.
Clare McDougall, Head of Community at npower said: “We’re delighted that Amy and the team at Aberthaw Power Station achieved their goal. This was a tough challenge and they rose to the occasion."
