A MAN is awaiting deportation after being arrested by immigration officers in Barry this week.

Home Office Immigration Enforcement officers arrested a 24-year-old man from Pakistan at a Churchill Terrace address at around 8am on Monday, January 20.

The man is currently in detention awaiting removal from the UK after checks confirmed that he was in the country illegally having over-stayed his visa.

He was taken to Cardiff Bay police station before being transferred to immigration detention pending his removal from the UK.

Richard Johnson of Home Office Immigration Enforcement said: "We are working hard to track down people breaking the UK’s immigration laws and remove them from the country.

“Operations like this are carried out regularly and information from the public can be a huge help in our work.”
