THE Mayor of Barry Claire Curtis will be hosting two charity fundraising events for good causes in the next few months.

Councillor Curtis is asking for support in raising money for her chosen charities in the run up to her end of term in May.

The charities support are The JAM Fund and Ty Hapus, the former being a fund set up for sick children in memory of Jamie Anderson who passed away from leukaemia in 2004 aged just five and the latter an Alzheimer's relief and treatment centre based on Holton Road, Barry.

The first fundraising event is a Choirs of Barry concert which is being held on Friday, February 28 at St Mary's Church, Holton Road at 7pm.

The concert will feature the Barry Male Voice Choir, the Barry Ladies Choir and the Barry Choral Society. There will also be a guest performance from soloist Jodie Bird.

The second event is a Dinner Dance at Mount Sorrel Hotel on Friday, April 4 at 7.30pm which is described as a night of Hollywood glamour and glitz.

Cllr Curtis is seeking any donations which could be used as raffle prizes at either event.
