BARRY youngsters have cheered and danced their way to the European Open Cheerleading Championship title, writes James Candy.

Cardiff Cougars, who run classes in Cardiff, Barry and Bridgend, travelled to Disneyland Paris to take on competition from Europe, USA and Japan.

Months of training paid off as the girls and boys did Wales proud. The youth team achieved an admirable 4th place and the junior team came first, making them the new Youth Novice CoEd European Champions!

CCA (Cardiff Cougars All-Stars) are one of the longest running squads in South Wales. This day will go down as one of their best, as all the hard work came together and new friends were made.

The squad are now looking forward to the British Cheerleading Association Western Classic, held in Cheltenham, where both the CCA Cardiff Cougars and Bridgend Jaguars will compete.
