A FUNDRAISING children’s party in aid of young cerebral palsy sufferer has raised more than £230.

The party was held at Coconuts on November 30, and will help fund the £60,000 Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy (SDR) operation in America that Niamh Tarran needs to have a chance of walking unaided.

A total of £231 was raised at the party, and Niamh's family thanked everyone who attended or donated, and the businesses that provided the food and raffle prizes - The Dining Room, Hydrofitness Gym, Just4Nailz, Bobs Balloons, Iceland, The Ship, Sunkissed and The Butterfly Rooms of Cwm Talwg, as well as Coconuts, who provided the party at no charge.

Niamh’s mum, Emma Farrugia, said: "Everybody has been so generous. We are overwhelmed by the response from the people of Barry who have given so much support.

"We have complete faith in reaching our target of £60,000 and giving Niamh the freedom to walk. Thank you all so much."
