Vale MP wants barry running event

VALE MP Alun Cairns, inspired by landing a personal best time in the Cardiff Half Marathon, has said he would be keen to establish a running event in Barry.
London Marathon veteran Alun - who supported Barry-based charities Atal y Fro and Mind In The Vale as part of his Half Marathon effort on Sunday (October 14) - said he believed Vale competitors, who helped make up the 18,000 field, would welcome the new challenge.
The 42-year-old dad-of-one completed the 13.2 mile race in 1:40:36.
"I really enjoyed running through the edge of the Vale in such great conditions and running along the barrage from Penarth to Cardiff was terrific in the sunshine," he said.
"There were many runners from the Vale taking part in Sunday's event, which I think is a clear sign that there could be significant interest in staging a similar event in Barry. I'm certainly keen to push for such an event here in the Vale."
