ROYAL Air Force Cadets of 372 (Barry) Squadron had some great fun baking some amazing cakes and held a sale to raise funds for Bobath Therapy Centre Wales.

Bobath is a registered charity which provides specialist therapies to children throughout Wales who have cerebral palsy and they need to raise more than £1 million each year.

At Bobath the charity focuses on the ability and not the disability of the child; providing life changing specialist therapies and equipment.

The cadets recently arrived at their squadron headquarters; with a wide range of tempting cake creations; ready for the judging in the various categories. The competition encouraged all the cadets from novice to professional to “have a go” at showcasing their skills and creative flair.

Bobath volunteer John Greenow said: “The cadets were brilliant, having taken Bobath to their hearts to raise funds for this wonderful charity.

"The squadron supports Bobath as one of its nominated charities.

"The Squadron Corps of Drums has performed at the Bobath Wellie walk in Roath Park; the cadets have also helped with bucket collections and the annual Bobath Dragon Boat Race, having fun as well as raising funds."

Commanding Officer Flt Lt Jason Horton said: “The cadets have obviously put a lot of time, energy and passion into making these fabulous cakes.

"One of the perks of being commanding officer is being the chief judge having to taste all these fantastic creations. It's a tough job at times.”

A quiz night will be held at the Market Street Club, on Friday, April 21 at 7pm for a 7.30pm start. Entry is £2 per person with teams comprising a maximum of six people, however, if you are only a few or on your own feel free to turn up and join a team.

This event will raise funds for The Royal Air Force Association to support former Royal Air Force personnel and 372 squadron in their quest to buy a new minibus.

The cadets are looking forward to an action packed training programme of flying, shooting, team building exercises, sport, adventurous training, trips, airshows and the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme.
