Extracts from the Barry & District News of April 6, 1967:

It is officially announced that the Welsh Royal National Eisteddfod at Barry in 1968 will be held on the site of the former Crow Hill Camp, an RAF camp site during the war, and on an adjoining field.

The site is on the main Port Road, between the Colcot and Weycock roundabouts, and it is believed that it will have great advantages from the traffic control point of view.

In place of the usual afternoon meeting on Easter Tuesday, the Cadoxton Darby and Joan Club held a social evening.

Ten members compiled a programme and entertained with solos and duets, and a very funny mime.

The Barry Aquarist Society held their monthly meeting on Wednesday, March 22, when final arrangements were made for their outing to Bristol Zoo and a fish importer at Weston.

Barry kicked-off and after a few quite promising passing movements between backs and forwards, they took the lead with an unconverted try.

It followed a tap-back from a line out near the Taffs Well line.

The new annexe at the Barry Memorial Hall made a pleasant and attractive new setting for the annual cocktail party organised by the Welsh National Cheshire Homes, Barry Committee, on Wednesday week, the event providing an entertaining wind-up to the Easter holiday. An attractive display by the Barry Parks Department was much appreciated.

Entertaining Kettering Town, the Southern League runners-up on Saturday, Barry were unlucky to go down by the only goal of the match, for they had the visiting defence in considerable trouble in the second half.

With several Welsh Youth and South Monmouthshire players in their ranks, Newport fielded a very formidable side but Barry seemed likely to force a draw until two players were injured late in the game.
