Extracts from the Barry & District News of March 30, 1967:

The one-time popular song "In Your Easter Bonnet" had real meaning for standard IV class at Barry Island School, for they were able to present a pre-Easter display of their skill in millinery.

"It was a wonderful weekend and we had a reception," was the verdict of the mayor on the visit of a civic delegation and a contingent of about 130 sports enthusiasts and their leaders to Fecamp, the Normandy town with which Barry is "twinned".

Although some traders at Barry Island had a "fair Easter" the majority of them were well down on last year's takings.

Barry Island is to be included in the experimental stages of the Street Good Neighbour Pilot Scheme, after it had been stated at the meeting of Barry Old People's Welfare Committee on Wednesday week that there was a number of "young" OAPs at Barry Island willing to help.

Bargoed scored 11 points in the last 11 minutes to chalk up an exciting but undeserved victory over Barry at the Reservoir Field on Saturday. It was all Barry in the first half and at one time in the game they were leading by 11 points to nil, but they faded away in the last quarter.

League leaders Colcot Stars defeated old rivals Cadoxton Albion by the odd goal in three in a hard-fought Barry league clash on Saturday.

With a full and varied fixture list, allied to the fact they will be trying out some of the rules of next year's Club Liaison (a form of league cricket), Barry Athletic Cricket Club are anticipating an interesting and successful season.

Barry County YC 'As' luck and happiness were certainly "Easter egg" shaped in their game against St Andrews on Saturday. St Andrew's were magnificent throughout and they showed the form that has brought them three wins in their previous three games.
