Extracts from the Barry & District News of March 9, 1967:

Many Barrians who spend their holidays in Spain have come to appreciate dishes and the service which are offered in the cafes and restaurants in that country. But now they have no need to catch a plane from Rhoose to find this atmosphere...they can find it at the new Spanish restaurant which opened with a cocktail party on Tuesday night at Broad Street Parade.

On Tuesday week, a buffet dance was held by the Barry Association of the National Union of Teachers at the Whitehall Country Club, Rhoose.

The function had the dual purpose of welcoming to the Barry area the new members of the teaching profession and to enable these and other members of the Barry branch to meet together on a social occasion such as this.

The NSPCC, which does such good work throughout the country, has recently formed a committee at Barry Island to assist in its work.

Barry Town Council's "mobile loo," which arrives on sites on the back of the lorry, is in popular demand, the Entertainments and Seaside Activities Committee heard at its meeting.

Because of lack of toilet facilities at the Old Harbour car and bus park, it was decided that the temporary conveniences should be sited here.

The Adventure Club of St Cadoc's Secondary School, Barry, has recently returned from another successful weekend camp. This term's visit from February 24 to 26, was to Abercave in the Brecon Beacons.

Two converted tries and a penalty, which came in a frenzied burst of scoring in the first half, were sufficient to sink Barry at the Reservoir Field on Saturday and they could manage only one try in reply.
