Extracts from the Barry & District News of March 2, 1967:

The annual dinner of the Barry Male Voice Choir took place on Saturday week at the Windsor Hotel, Barry. It was attended by about 60 choir members, relatives and friends.

After the dinner an evening of entertainment, including bingo, dancing, choral items, a "Mr and Mrs" competition and a mock choral competition, was put on.

The greatest sporting event in the history of Barry - that is the proud claim of the organisers of the International Cross Country Championships to be held at the Barry Sports Centre on Saturday, March 18.

Olympic and European track champions will line up with other world class athletes to provide Barrians with the finest array of middle distance runners ever to appear in Wales.

Cwmbran, one of the strongest sides in second class Welsh rugby, were held to a three-point lead for over half this match by Barry, but the effort eventually proved too much for the home team who slumped to a heavy defeat in the closing stages.

The championship of the Barry YMCA Budokan was held in the YMCA gymnasium watched by an enthusiastic crowd on Saturday evening. The club had already held eliminations and so it was only the semi-finals and finals to be decided, supported by demonstrations and presentations.
