TOWARDS the end of 2016, Barry Hookers' Crochet and Craft Group decided to raise funds for local charities by printing a fun calendar.
Fi Rodgers, spokesperson for the group said: "We were lucky enough to obtain sponsorship through the generous donations of local businesses including Coffee Cove, John's Cafe, Jacquie's, Marco's, Hypervalue, Boofy's, Jane Hutt, Alun Cairns, Beachcomber, Coastal Coffee, Whitmore and Jackson, the Vale Motor Company and Fun Harbour.
"Without these generous donations we would have been unable to get the calendar printed, so we are hugely grateful."
The group chose four charities to benefit from the fundraising, the total amount finally raised coming to more than £1,300.
So far, Marie Curie Holme Towers, Vale Plus and Age Connects have each received £300, with a further donation for the Nippers Lifesaving group at Whitmore Bay still to be made.
The group meets every Wednesday at Coffee Cove, Barry Island from 10am until noon.
Anyone is welcome to join.
