Extracts from the Barry & District News of February 9, 1967:

About 600 members' wives and children left Cadoxton Conservative Club recently for the annual visit to the pantomime 'Mother Goose' at the New Theatre, Cardiff.

About 200 members of the Barry Darby and Joan Club also visited the pantomime on Wednesday and afterwards had tea at a cafe in the city.

Because of new equipment, it has been possible to improve the production rate of the Barry & District News which is now readily available at newsagents from Thursday afternoons. In view of this, it has been decided to date the paper as Thursday instead of Friday, starting with this issue.

It was indeed a privilege to be one of a packed audience at the Memorial Hall, Barry, on Wednesday week to listen to the New Philharmonic Orchestra and an excellent young Australian guitarist.

This was the third visit to Wales of the orchestra since it was disbanded in 1964 but reformed by the players themselves in March of that year.

Barry Rugby Club's pilgrimage to Scotland over the weekend, at which they were entertained by the North Berwick side with whom they have strong links, turned out to be a festival of much rejoicing, despite resulting in severe jolts for Barry's first and second teams...not forgetting Scotland's sensational win.

Barry Town brought off one of their best performances of the season when they visited Bexley United on Saturday and gained a well-earned point. It could easily have been a win, for Barry had plenty of chances, especially in the first half, but these were wasted by poor shooting and heading.

After an unhappy time in 1966, Barry Docks made a fair start to 1967, the traffic of 120,301 tons for the four weeks ended on January 22, being an increase of 16,798 tons on the corresponding period of last year.

At the last dance held by the Barry Young Liberal's' Association, they had approximately 25 crates of soft drink left over. Rather than sell these the organisers have decided to offer them to any charitable institution or children's home which would be able to make good use of them.
