BARRY Male Voice Choir made a donation of £1,000 to mental health voluntary support group Mind in the Vale.

Mind representative Barney Sanders said: "We are overwhelmed by the generosity of the audience present at the Barry Male Voice Choir`s Christmas Concert held on our behalf.

"We would like to thank the choir and the RAF ST Athan Voluntary Band for their contributions.

"It was a wonderful example of community support."

Choir chairman Gareth Roberts added: "Supporting the community is a major priority for the choir.

"In addition to its Christmas Concert the choir has over the Christmas period sung at St David's Church Colcot, at the switching on of the High Street lights, at Wetherspoons Sir Samuel Romilly, at Barry Hospital and at Tesco`s Culverhouse Cross.

"More recently the choir performed at the tenth birthday anniversary celebration of the Barry library."
