AT the recent Vale Youth Forum AGM, young people from all over the Vale received their volunteering award certificates, and enjoyed a celebration buffet courtesy of the Mayor of the Vale of Glamorgan, Cllr Eric Hacker.

The Vale Youth Forum is made up of young people aged 11 to 25 who represent the views of their peers at the VYF.

The young people meet regularly to hear from service providers, gain knowledge and learn new skills to help them to confidently express their voice, concerns, ideas and opinions on services that affect them.

Together the young people volunteered a staggering 900 hours over the course of the year to help their communities.

The Vale Youth Forum is a registered charity whose trustees include the Leader of the Vale Council, the Chief Inspector of Police, AM Jane Hutt, as well as other organisations/people committed to ensuring young people have their rights to a say in decisions that are made about them (United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child - Article 12).

If you would like your organisation to be represented at the Vale Youth Forum, or you are interested in becoming a trustee and have the skills and knowledge to help young people, contact Helena Jones on 029 2070 1254 or email valeyouthforum@hotmail.co.uk
