A FUNDRAISING line dance night in Barry raised more than £1,000 for charity. All the money raised from the recent event at Barry's Memorial Hall will go towards the charity Healing the Wounds.

Many people also donned Armed Forces-themed fancy dress outfits for the evening, and Sue John, who helped organise the event, said: "We would like to thank all the local businesses who donated raffle prizes and the staff of the Memorial Hall, whose help was very welcome.

"The money raised will pay for one full treatment for a serviceman suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, on their return home from duty."

She added: "I think we did very well - whilst having a great evening dancing, we raised much-needed funds for a great cause."
