Vale Council's Big Fill campaign moves on to Illtyd ward - report your potholes this week
12:00pm Monday 8th October 2012 in News
THE Vale Council's year-long Big Fill campaign was launched in the Dyfan ward of Barry last week.
On the weekend of September 29 and 30, the council's highways maintenance team and contractor filled potholes on Port Road East Service Road, Highlight Lane, Sandringham Close, Tordoff Way, Hellas Drive, Lakin Drive and Winston Road.
Around 38 tonnes of new surface were laid in 52 separate road repairs, measuring between one and 58 square metres in size, over the two days.
Vale Council leader, Cllr Neil Moore, said: "In the recent public opinion survey, people told us they were unhappy with some of the Vale's roads - and we have listened.
"We are thrilled to launch this interactive scheme, with the intention of investing in a substantial improvement to Vale roads, by specifically targeting areas and attending to potholes and road defects that have been identified."
The BIG Fill will move on to the Illtyd ward on October 13 and 14 - so if you have found a pothole in the ward, report it to the council between Monday and Friday (October 8-12) and they will add it to the repair list.
If you see a pothole marked in white, it is already on the list.
Phone 01446 700 111 and tell them you're reporting a pothole under 'The BIG Fill' campaign, or email thebigfill@valeofglamorgan.gov.uk
Alternatively you can plot the exact location of the pothole on the interactive map on the website www.valeofglamorgan.gov.uk
* Potholes can only be reported between Monday and Friday, the week prior to the team arriving in the ward.
