BARRY primary school pupils are helping those less fortunate in our community, by donating items to the local foodbank for people and families in crisis.
Romilly pupils donated a bumper hamper of edible basics and treats to the Coastlands Church-based project, during their Harvest Festival celebrations this week (October 2).
Youngsters and families contributed tins, cereals, soups, drinks, biscuits and assorted items for use by Vale people in need.
Food Bank volunteer, Julie Pearce said: "The donation is amazing. I was blown away.
"We try to put in some treats especially if we know there are children in the family. It's one thing just to survive, and another to have a treat."
Romilly RE co-ordinator, Rebecca Faulkner said the school had asked pupils to each bring an item in to donate, and thanked all families for their support.
"We have been overwhelmed with the response to the project," she said.
