TWENTY-SEVEN walkers are to step out in memory of a family member, friend and colleague who died last month following a battle with cancer.

The intrepid trekkers will walk the coastal path from Llantwit Major to Barry in memory of Wendy Jordan, of Palmerston, who previously raised £2,065 for Velindre hospital through organising her own 'Wendy's Walk'.

The team - who will complete their journey on Sunday (September 30) at Barry train station before moving on to the Glenbrook Inn - will donate all funds raised to Macmillan Cancer Care.

Friend Karl Webb, who worked with Wendy at Scafftag in Barry, said: "We are doing the walk in memory of a remarkable lady - Wendy Jordan.

"We want to give something back to the Macmillan cancer charity whose nurses looked after her throughout her illness, in a caring and compassionate way, and also help the charity research and beat this illness."

* A RAFFLE in aid of Wendy's Walk and Macmillan is offering a prize of a voucher for four people to play golf at the Vale of Glamorgan course.

Raffle tickets can be purchased from Claire or Clive at Scafftag, Wimbourne Road, Barry, and are also available at the Glenbrook on the day of the walk from 3pm to 5pm.

The draw will take place on October 19.
