Hired BMW replaces Vale Mayor's Jaguar which was written off in car park prang

THE Vale Council has hired a £30-a-day BMW 5 Series diesel saloon to transport the mayor - after the official Jaguar was written-off following a collision.

The replacement vehicle, charged to the mayor's existing budget, will be driven wherever possible by drivers already employed by the council on other duties, according to a spokeswoman.

A full investigation into the collision - which happened at Morrisons car park, as reported in last week’s B&D - is ongoing, and the council says it will take some time.

Vale Council operational manager, corporate policy and communications, Beverly Noon said: "The manager of Morrisons supermarket was aware of the accident as soon as it happened and is co-operating with the investigation.

"No decisions will be taken until both council and insurance investigations have been completed."
