MOTION Control Dance Programme, run by Vibe Experience, has been successful in obtaining funding from Children in Need to continue to run two exciting dance projects starting in September 2012.

Barry Boy Breakers is aimed at boys aged eight-16 years who are disadvantaged or come from deprived areas and are interested in learning break dance - a style which has seen a boom in popularity thanks to recent movies and TV shows like Got To Dance.

The classes promote self-motivation, confidence, respect and friendships and there is a focus on showcasing their work and achievements at local community events and competitions.

The classes are run by highly qualified tutors from Vibe Experience at the Barry YMCA Hub on Wednesdays at 7-8pm for beginners and 8-9pm for intermediate level.

The second project funded by Children in Need is the Local Motion Dance Company - an inclusive dance class for children and young people with disabilities. It is an opportunity for young people to express, create and perform movements in a safe, friendly environment where they are encouraged to help plan what they learn over the term.

The trained and experienced staff at Motion Control Dance ensure these weekly classes are fun and beneficial for members, encouraging social, emotional and behavioural development with a focus on broadening their horizons.

This group has been awarded the Bronze Insport certificate by Disability Sports Wales, a symbol of high quality teaching and practice. Sessions are held at the Barry YMCA on Thursdays from 4.30pm for children aged five-10 years and from 5.30pm for ages 11-25 years.

Enrolment for these projects is now taking place alongside the weekly contemporary and street dance sessions that Motion Control Dance delivers.

Future multi-media projects are being devised with the other team members of Vibe Experience - see the website for more details at www.motioncontroldance.co.uk or contact Emma Mallam, Motion Control dance co-ordinator on 01446 733622 (extension 15) or 07725 038778.
