Man, 31, and woman, 20, plead guilty to Barry town centre robberies

A MAN and a woman have both pleaded guilty to two robberies in Barry town centre.

Lee Francis Farrugia, aged 31, and Colette Sian Lewis, aged 20, appeared at Cardiff Crown Court on Monday (September 17), charged with robbing the Cash Solutions store on Holton Road between 2.45pm and 3.10pm on Friday, September 7; and the Post Office on Holton Road at around 11.50am on Saturday, September 8.

During both incidents staff were threatened with a knife.

The pair both admitted two counts of robbery, with Farrugia also pleading guilty to possessing an offensive weapon, namely a knife, on Holton Road on September 7 and September 8.

The court heard that during the robbery at Cash Solutions, £130 in cash and a mobile phone were taken; and during the robbery at the Post Office the following day, £200 in cash was taken.

Farrugia also admitted stealing two cameras and two satellite navigation systems from Tesco in Barry on September 6. The pair were remanded in custody, to appear for sentencing at Cardiff Crown Court on October 3.
