Team Toy Story run Cardiff 10k for Daniel's Cwtch Fund

TO INFINITY AND BEYOND: Team Toy Story. TO INFINITY AND BEYOND: Team Toy Story.

A BARRY dad and his colleagues adopted the 'no toy gets left behind' principle when their Toy Story team ran the Cardiff 10km on Sunday (September 9).

Welsh Government manager Matt Downton and fellow animated characters took on the mission to raise money for Daniel's Cwtch Fund.

Three-year-old Daniel Downton - Matt's son - was diagnosed with a rare, malignant tumour at the top of his spine, and the fund was established in December 2011 to support him.

The runners aimed to raise hundreds of pounds to assist CLIC Sargent and LATCH, who have supported the family throughout.

Matt, 38, of Bron Awelon, who ran as Mr Potato Head, said: "Thankfully Dan had the all clear two weeks ago.

"He loves all the Toy Story characters and would really have liked to attend this event, but his immunity is still low.

"I bought the costume on eBay for £20 - which I think was a bargain," he added.

"I'm really pleased my friends and colleagues have done this and would like to thank the staff on Sky ward at the Children's Hospital of Wales."
