Welsh language centre for the Vale of Glamorgan: Public meeting this week

A PUBLIC meeting to discuss the establishment of a Welsh language centre for the Vale of Glamorgan will be held on Thursday, September 13 at 6pm in the Mount Sorrel hotel, Porthkerry Road, Barry.

The campaign to ensure a legacy from the Eisteddfod's visit to the Vale this year was launched during the festival in Llandow.

The project, which is using the working title Ty Cadog, is aimed at acquiring a building in the centre of Barry as the largest town in the county, that could provide a range of opportunities for the public to use their Welsh in informal situations, such as a cafe, bookshop, etc.

The idea was inspired by the campaign launched in the Eisteddfod last year to establish the old Saith Seren pub in Wrexham as a Welsh language centre. That was successful, and the centre is now flourishing.
