A 25-YEAR-OLD man has pleaded not guilty to a charge of causing the death of a Barry mum by dangerous driving.

Ashleigh Stephen Ryan, who was aged 24 at the time Tara Mackie died, entered his plea at Cardiff Crown Court on Monday (September 3).

Miss Mackie died following a collision on Cardiff Road on Sunday, October 16, 2011.

A black Ford Fiesta travelling along Cardiff Road from Dinas Powys towards Barry collided with Miss Mackie, who was a pedestrian, just before 9.20am. The 25-year-old mum-of-one was airlifted to Cardiff's University Hospital of Wales, but died shortly afterwards.

Police arrested the driver at the scene and bailed him pending further enquiries. Ryan, of Nantgarw, is set to stand trial in December.
