WENVOE racing driver Jake Rattenbury met the Welsh football team as they prepared for their World Cup qualifying campaign this week.
Former Gwenfo Primary, St Cyres and Westbourne pupil Jake met the likes of Aaron Ramsey at St David’s Hotel in Cardiff on Monday (September 3).
The 19-year-old will race his Ginetta G55 GT3 in the British GT series at Silverstone on Sunday (September 9), whilst the Wales football team embark on their latest qualifying campaign with a game against Belgium on Friday (September 7) before facing Serbia (September 11) on Tuesday.
Jake, who is set to start studying Motorsport Management at Swansea University later this month, will travel to Serbia to watch Chris Coleman’s side in action after his own race.
"I have been looking forward to meeting the Wales team for ages," he said.
"I go and watch them all the time. It’s amazing to have the support of people I have grown up to admire."
Jake is looking forward to Sunday's race.
"It’s going to be a three hour race so it should be fun," he said.
"I have done a two hour and 45 minute race before, so it should be a good experience."
Wales manager Chris Coleman heaped praise on the teenager.
"He’s doing terrific and we are all behind him," he said "It’s great of him to bring his car down and show the boys."
