OFFICERS in Barry have launched an operation to tackle anti-social behaviour in the Castleland area.

Police are keen to put an end to ASB problems on the Thompson Street estate after receiving complaints from residents about issues including youths drinking and causing annoyance in public areas, drug misuse and loud music.

During Operation Alton, officers will be concentrating on areas identified as vulnerable and hotspot locations for such behaviour.

High visibility patrols are now being conducted in the area to prevent such behaviour and reassure the community.

PC Miguel Sutcliffe, who is leading the operation, said: “This kind of behaviour can be intimidating for residents - especially the elderly and vulnerable.

“We have increased our patrols in order to address the community’s concerns and we want those individuals committing acts of anti-social behaviour to know that it will not be tolerated.

“I urge residents to contact Barry Police on 101 to report incidents of anti-social behaviour so that we can take action.”
