Musical fundraiser in aid of Daniel Downton Cwtch Fund

MUSIC students and associates of two local teachers, Jo Weaving and Sara Ghazi-Torbati, are coming together for a special concert - raising money for the Daniel Downton Cwtch Fund.

Days before Christmas 2011, two-year-old Barry boy Daniel was diagnosed with a rare, malignant tumour at the top of his spine.

Earlier this year, the Daniel Downton Cwtch Fund was set up with fundraising events taking place within the area. Money raised will be used to support Daniel and his family during his treatment, as well as supporting LATCH and CLIC Sargent, who have been assisting and supporting the family.

"I run Musical Minis and Daniel has been attending classes with his mum since he was tiny," said Jo.

"I have two young children myself and I can't begin to imagine what Daniel and his family are going through."

The concert will feature talented young musicians including pianists, singers, classical guitarists, woodwind and brass players. Jo and Sara will also be performing.

The event is on Saturday, June 30, at Highlight Park Community Centre in Barry from 7pm. Doors open 6.30pm. Tickets are £4 each (£2.50 for under 16s). You can pay on the door on the night, or reserve tickets to collect on the door from Jo on 01446 733788 or by emailing joweaving@yahoo.co.uk
