A BARRY grandfather campaigning for men to have the right to a form of prostate cancer treatment took the fight to the Welsh Assembly yesterday, protesting outside the Senedd.
Dave Powell, 54, of Radnor Green, was joined by supporters in the campaign for brachytherapy treatment funding in Wales.
Brachytherapy treatment involves radioactive 'seeds' being implanted directly into the prostate gland ,and has far less serious side effects than radiotherapy or surgery.
Mr Powell said: "The protest today has been going really well, and, as you can see, we've got a lot of support.
"Today is all about putting pressure on Health Commission Wales (HCW) to try to change their decision for funding of the treatment for men in Wales."
Joining the protesters and Mr Powell was Jayne Sullivan, who successfully campaigned for the breast cancer treatment drug herceptin to be available on the NHS.
