A VALE Council by-election will take place in the Buttrills ward of Barry in August, following the death of Cllr Margaret Alexander.
Official notice of the election will be published on June 28. Nominations will close on Friday, July 6 with voters going to the polls on Thursday, August 2. Barry Town Council has published the casual vacancy for the post held by Cllr Alexander, and will stage a by-election if 10 or more electors request this within 14 days of the notice of Monday, June 11.
If no request is received, the town council will co-opt a councilor. If a by-election is declared, the vote will take place on the same day as the Vale poll.
